I was wondering what you would do if you were in my situation. I have a keisler 6 speed with all the parts necessary for an auto to manual conversion.
I could buy a lift and install the tranny myself and save a grand or I could let someone else put it in.
I already have the engine out as well as the dash so I guess in a way I have the conversion started. I would apreciate any suggestions.
Without a doubt, I would do it myself. If at all possible, I do all my own work because I want the education and experience. This way, you'll also end up with an arsenal of tools instead of a bunch of labor receipts like most of the Vette owners out there. Just remember that this is a hobby, not a job to get done, and you'll enjoy it. Don't set a schedule and come back here often for advice. Once you complete a few of these jobs, you'll be the guy on the forum answering questions instead of asking!
The 6-speed install doesn't look all that complicated, you can definitely do the tunnel mods, and the crossmember mods aren't that difficult if you have a MIG welder. If not, this is a good time for a tool addition!
Sounds like the job is half done allready. Dont stop now. Did mine last year but I didnt have the time or patience for the dash and pedal removal part.
Im gonna try to do mine this summer on a gravel drive way with scisser jacks and jack stands. I think im ognna get some better tools for this one :yesnod:
Gonna be bench pressing that Turbo 350 underneath my car
