The switch is located on the lower pivot arm on the headlight mechanism. I'm guessing it is for some sort of indicator that the headlights are raised? Couldn't find it in my AIM, and I just broke off the one on the other side. :mad The part that the nut screws onto is just plastic. The bump on the underside seems to be a switch (the pic is taken from underneath) but if so, if seems to be mounted strangely, since I can't see how it would contact anything when the lights go up and down.

Re: What Does This Switch Do? (redwingvette)
Actually the switch opens when the headlights reach the full up position. You will have a headlight warning light on the dash until you repair the switch. I had this light on my car up until a few months ago. I replaced both switches. Now the warning light stays on until both lights lock in the up position. The new switches are rather cheaply made I thought. JMO.

Re: What Does This Switch Do? (JB)
JB, the switch orientation looks to be correct in you picture with the light down. If you raise the light, it should hit a flat spot on the mechanism and press on the little button.
The switch will only go on one way as the stud has a key molded in. The same switch is used for anti-tamper on the factory alarm key switch. It's called a headlight warning switch. Pricey little sucker, about 25 bucks from most places I've seen.
