Default Looking for an 80-82 6 Link Setup

Hey folks,
I just contacted Rick Taylor, the guy in Canada that makes the 6 Link setup for C3's, and I asked him about 80-82 Corvettes, and he said he doesn't offer a kit for them. So my question is, does anybody know where I can find a 6 link setup for my 81? If not, what would it take to modify Rick Taylor's kit to make it work in an 80-82? Very very interested, TIA....

There is no kit, the problem is that the 80-82 diff has a 1 piece lid/mounting bar so you will have to come up with some kind of alternate mounting method for the 6 link brackets.

How do I get in touch with Rick Taylor? I would like to learn more about his 6 link. I have a 78 pace car.

Where's Norval!?!

Here is the info for the guy selling the 6 link setup. He makes them in his garage, but from what I've seen, they're top notch.

Rick Taylor
Penticton, B.C. Canada.
250-770-1965

A 6 link setup is a kit that bolts into your rear suspension, and eliminates how the factory uses the halfshafts as part of the suspension. It reduces load on the rear wheel bearings and differential bearings. It allows for complete adjustability of toe and camber, and greatly improves handling. Jack up the rear of your car. See how the rear wheels tilt? This kit eliminates that.

So does anybody have anymore input on how to make Rick's 6 link work in an 80-82 Vette? Again, where's Norval!?!

A good chunk of change. If I remember right, I think someone once said it's around $2000 or $2500. I could be wrong though.

Mr. Taylor's kit is surprisingly cheap as I recall. It was under 400.00 2 years ago. It looks like a very well made product too.

Does anybody have any pics of that Rick Taylors setup? Or any other 6-link setup... I would be interested what kind of differencies the different setups have.

apparently the 5 bar is NOT for sale for 80-82 cars, I hear there was a geometry problem that has not been solved (weird, there's not that much difference) and that the single unit sold continues to be problematic. I'm not sure if this is 100% correct info but it's what I heard.

Go to the Corvette FAQ http://www.corvettefaq.com/listing.asp?group=3

The first link is to to the setup on Aaron Main's 6 link that was done by Mr. Taylor.

Guess that I should go over there more often myself. I see that there is a link to a 6 link for the '80 to '82 cars there also.

I saw this while I was surfing a while back. Don't know if it will fit or can be modified to fit a 80-82. Not exactly a 6 link but should strenghen up the rear

Yeah the Tom's set up is bit different and not that good for those who are looking for handling improvements:

The links offered by Tom's are for safety only. In the event of a half shaft breaking they will contain the half shaft and trailing arm so that you do not lose complete control of the car.

The 6 link that Mr. Taylor offers will allow you to adjust the amount of camber that the wheel makes during it's travel. The trailing arm will also be held in the correct position in the event of a half shaft failure.

In looking further at the 6 link pictures for the '80 to '82 at http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/6link80-82.mht
I also see that the rear has been converted to coil over shocks and the seems to be half shaft loops at the outboard end to protect the car in the event of an outer U-joint failure.
