Default Installing T-56 and need help.

I'm trying to install a crossmember and I don't know where to position the rear of it. When it looks at the right angle, the shifter is high and will force me to redesign the console. If I lower it, it looks way to low and is tilting downhill. I'll post pics later.

Put the trans where you want it then mount the crossmember. The T56 shifter can be cut lower to clear the console. Just weld on the 4 speed shifter handle to the side of the T56 shifter with a spacer. Check out the pic.

My trans does angle down, but very very slightly. Hardly noticeable.

:nonod: Oh I donno. I've read you want the driveshaft to make the angles - up & down and side to side - on an engine swap. The engine/trans imarginary extended line should just parallel the imaginary line extended out infront of the differential.
I'm not trying to annoy you here but that is just what I've read in my engine swap book. Just trying to help you avoid problems.

On our cars, driveshaft angle and pinion angle are really not as important as you would think. It is mostly a concern on a car where the rear differential moves up and down. Don't get me wrong, I think the angles should be minimized, but because our rears don't move, the angle isn't changing. In fact, the only reason our cars even have u-joints on the driveshaft is to allow for a little bit of chassis flex. The C5's are hard mounted from the engine to the rear with no u'joints. I have had my car up over 100 with no drivetrain vibrations.

I agree, my biggest problem is the size of this monster and my car sitting so low. I think I found the best angle for mounting it. I leveled the oil pan and went off of that.
