Default Tach problem -'68

I'm getting a loud screeching noise from behind my instrumet panel and my tach went haywire. I believe the cable is toast. How difficult are they to change?

I'm betting its in the tach main frame instead of the cable...could be both though.More than likely its Tach rebuild time.

:iagree:

However, while you've got it apart, check the cable. It is cheap insurance to lube and/or replace the cable at the same time. Also, some 68s eat cable drive gears for lunch (the tach drive in the distributer). My 68 427 used to chew up a gear about every year. However, it is very unlikely that you have this problem causing the noise.

Thanks. I have a cable ordered. Like you said, cheap insurance.
