I used the GM heat sheild for over 20 years. It worked well.
However, since 1996 I've used the composite spacer and it works as well.
I find the composite spacer does not interfere with hoses etc like the sheild does.
Either one should do the job.

Here is the Holley heatshield I purchased today mocked up on a 1967 intake. There was a tab at the back that did not clear the vacuum fitting so I did a Bubba...neatly folded it under. The cut-out for the choke linkage looks fine. There may be a wee bit of interference in the front with the thermostat housing; it is bulbous. And there might be a problem with the crankcase vent tube coming up from the back of the engine to the underneath of the air cleaner. So its a bit of a crapshoot until I see my car in April. But it came with a 3/8" spacer and that in itself is a fallback option.
