I took the doors apart, and degreesed/cleaned allof the window stuff, should i regrese or just oil before i put all of the locking/ window mechanisms back in?
WTF does TTT mean, anyway I am just a chick and what do I know, however I would call the local gas station and ask them. You might be suprised and they may actually tell you and not wanna charge you money! :chevy
I think just oiling is a little light. I used white lithium grease on all the mechanisms before re-installing. :)
awesome ness, BTW, By The Way, TTT means to the top it is for the mods to know u r getting ur post to the top of the heap, and not free posting...
wow, that is scarry, my garage looks the exact same way, with poopie everywhere and all.... :lolg:
How did u deal with ur door problems? take them apart? did u take them off of the car and paint them?? more info...
If I clean the shop up I can never find anything afterwards :cry
Then my hands got cold..........
Here i am using a hemostat to hold that linkage rod fast while i get it all together, it is a tight squeeze in there.
I know the fealing, everytime i clean, it just makes it worse....
IO agree, there is almost no room to work, i am having problems, i think this is going to end up taking alot longer than i thought...
I dipped both locking mechanisms in carb cleaner/degreaser, then played with the springs to get them working, then hosed it with lithium grease
err, i thought i had problems, but i think it is my persuit of perfection, and **** retentive attitude that is getting the best of me.
I thought that the windows where not working right, but it was all in my head. It was just feeling a bit grainy, but no matter it is all coming out agai, so i can paint the rust on the doors.
Corz:
I don't see how these doors could bring back any memories that are good. I plan to repress this nightmare, along with that nightmare called the window frame, and the nightmare called the t-top mioolding... :nonod:

Re: Doors.... (Ed T)
I removed the door lock mechanisms and cleaned with carb cleaner. After cleaning I was really surprised at how clean everything was. I used white lithium grease to grease everything back up when I was finished.

yeah all of the asemblies tr getting cleaned, but some r still a bit catchy, and a bit grainy, maybee they just need greese??
I soaked mine in mineral spirits overnight, then when the wife was away I put them in the diswasher with extra soap on the super hot, extra wash cycle. The turned out great! Grease them back up with Lithium grease and they should go another 30 years. Dishwasher works great on pre-cleaned aluminum intakes and hubcaps too.

I was sooo tempted to do that today...
Not to get too far off the topic, but I also have a yellow C3 (76 L48) with some door issues. The car was poorly repainted and someone used the inside of the drivers door for a paint pallette (five colors and counting). Anyway, is the inside of the door supposed to match the exterior paint exactly? Every door I have seen with the panel off seems to have a lighter tint to it. Maybe this is due to fading or something. I will be painting the car this spring and have wondered this for a while. Any input would be great!
