Default International shipping

Hi,

I need to ship an complete exhaust system (inclusive exhaust manifold) plus several parts from USA to Switzerland. Had anyone any experience? How much is about the shipping cost? what is the best transportation way (air, boat, etc..)?

Thanks for any info.

Regards,

Michael

try USPS, if the box is too large or heavy for them you are stuck with arranging some kind of container freight.

IF USPS will take it send it AIR. Took over three months to get my last package seamail to Australia. The extra cost is worth not having to worry about lost goods.

FedEx will ship it,but it may be cost prohibitive compared to shiping it on a ship.

.....find out the weight and cubic measurement first and then contact several freight forwarders in Switzerland (like Kuehne & Nagel).....they'll quote air and sea including transit times, so you can decide on which suits your budget and patience.......

......definitely get a quote from FedEx......they'll definitely get it there quickly.....but I think the weight and cube of an exhaust system will cost you a lot of coin if you ship it by air..........

Michael,
By air is within a week usually, but is expensive. By sea is usually 4 - 6 weeks (to the UK), but is a lot cheaper. The shipping costs make a difference as they are included when calculating all the duty/tax payable by customs.
A fellow C3 owner here has set up a company specifically for shipping parts from the US. Good rates & a good service, so it would be worth your while getting a quote from him. His email is: steve@moving-parts.com

where does this steve move parts to? I never heard of him but this may be interesting. I have items that usps won't ship because of size and I found a container guy here but he ain't exactly cheap either, he adds 50% to the price (in euros!)

Hi Marck,
I think Steve will ship parts anywhere. He's in the shipping industry anyway &, like all of us, got so hacked off with getting ripped off when importing his Vette parts that he recently set up MovinIt purely for shipping from the US. It seems that he can ship to mainland Europe as well as the UK & last time I was talking to him he said that he could also ship the other way if need be. He's a nice guy (which goes without saying - he drives a C3!) & would be happy to give you a quote or answer any queries.
Och aye Graeme! Keep the emails coming - they certainly brighten up my day (especially that Mascul-out one :lolg: ).
