Re: All these 5spd. conversions (Cali,68,L-79)
I went to a 5-spd with 3.08 rear gears in 1993. Never a regret. Now with the rebuild I'll go to a Six. Less work and more travel.

I lucked out on the cheap side, in '92 got a brand new Dough Nash 5 speed, including shifer and TB 400 yoke for 1500.00. The guy built a Cobra kit car and bought two complete DN 5 speeds, one to be used as a spare in case the other broke. 2.5 years of pounding on the gears, the guy decided the DN won't break and lucky for me, he called and offered the deal. I didn't have to think too long. I remeber the price of the tranny was around 1500-1800 and the shifter was another 300.00.

I plan on going to a Richmond 6 speed with a .76 overdrive as soon as possible

They make different gear sets for the T-5 that are stronger and have different ratios available."
I like it; the jump from 1st to second isn't as big.
