Does anyone remember the chrome chain steering wheels which were popular during the 60's-70's. I purchased a chain steering wheel from Grant.
However the steering wheel they sell is only in 10" or 11" in diameter. When they were sold during the time of popularity (60's-70's) did they come in 14" size? ("old timers" please chime in)
Does anyone know where I can purchase one of standard size or where I can have one custom made?
That's a serious ghetto cruiser accessory, are you seriously going to put that on a vette?
I watched the old Cheech and Chong movie "Up in Smoke" the other night and Cheech had one of the small diameter chain steering wheels in his low rider.
The eason I would like to put one inside my vehicle (12-14") is because a family friend had a 69 vette (BB) with a chain steering wheel and it looked good inside his vehicle. He had a standard size (14") chain wheel. This was during the early 80's (first time I saw his vette was in 1980) He died (in 1982) of liver cancer at the age of 36. (I was 16 then) He was my father's best friend and like my father, I miss him. He was the first person's corvette I ever rode in. He would be very selective who he would let drive his vette, even though he was my father's best friend, he wouldnt let him drive it. However, he let one of my sisters drive it. Upon his death, his wife ex-wife asked my father did he want the car, my father said he did not because he already had three vehicles and he thought it rode too hard. The car ended up going to his older brother who trashed it through neglect, I dont know where this car is now.
