:iagree: with everyone. The only suggestions I'd make is 1) check all fluid levels prior to beginning the break in; 2) have a garden hose ready just in case you need to spray the radiator if it starts running a little too warm; and 3) have an ice cold six pack of your favorite beverage to consume during the 20 minutes while you're just standing there with nothing to do.
Get all the fluids full and prime the engine well so you see oil flowing out of the rockers through the valve cover holes. Hope you lubed the heck out of the cam and lifers.
Bring her to #1 TDC and set timing at about 8-10 degrees so it will fire quick. Prime the carb.
When it starts bring it to 2000-2200 rpms and hold it there for at least 20 -25 minutes. Vary the rpms some +/- 100 or so but don't go below 2000. After this back it down, set the timing and idle and let it cool. This will make for a happy cam and a happy you. A burnt lobe sure makes a crappy day.
