Default Body dolly; Bodymount height question..

Hello everyone,

Does somebody have the height dimensions of the bodymounts (where they come in contact with the body)? I don't need all the heights (would be better offcourse) but the differences in height from a basepoint (maybe take 1 bodymount as 0.0 in height and and give the rest of the heights calculated from that point) is also oke :)

Where do i need it for:
I'm in the pre stage for making a body dolly for my 81.
Marck (Twin Turbo) gave me this dolly concept link: http://vettefinders.com/rhys/images/c3dolly.jpg

But i think it's better to have a dolly that supports all bodymountings so also the rear 2 and of course the 1 in the nose!
Designing and constructing it is no problem but i mis some dimensions that are vitale for this dolly.
I've measured the differences in hight between the bodymounts (as far as possible) I think the 3 middle bodymounts lay at the same line (height), but the rear 2 and the front in front lay higher.. If my measured dimensions are just a little of the body will crack... :(...

Greetings Peter.

Peter, I built the same dolly, and added support for the nose and tail. You don't really have to worry about cracking while on the dolly, but you do have to worry about it when lifting. Just put the body on the dolly, then built the extra support you need afterwards. You can use jack stands if you're worried about temporary support.

When the body is on the dolly, the rocker channels support the weight in the center of the car, not the mounts, so you don't have to worry about height.

Thanks for the reply Joe,

Lifting isn't the problem, i use a good fork lifting truck to do the job.
But my dolly is going to be made out of steel so i was planning to make the dolly good the first time without any adjustments afterwards..

I think the middle rockel channel takes the entire load of body weight and the front and rear bodymount supports are just to take the stress out of the body.
So i think its a good idea to make the front and rear supports on the frame vertical movable..
Very good pic's btw!!
Nice to see the storage bins can serieusly mess up the dolly when its off just a little..

Greetings Peter.
