A place here that sells corvettes has a sign saying 68 convertiable for $13500
I have not seen the car but most of what they have is very good condition and they have a mechanic shop in the back to work on all types of GM cars. So I would think the powertrain is in dependalbe condition. If the body is in fairly good shape how does this price compare. Car is in Austin, TX
Thanks
Ray
That's an awfully low price for a dealer in Austin. It's even a little low for an individual seller. I'd be real careful. Biggest potential problem is rust, and yes, even Texas cars rust plenty if they haven't been garaged, especially in the windsheild frame and supports.
A Corvette dealer, with a "chrome bumper" shark, a convertible none the less for $13.5K? You're gonna have to look at this one. TOO cheap IMHO. I'd look it over CAREFULLY. Are you sure it's not a project car of some type? Chuck
I can not remember the name of the place but the shop is off McNeil and Research Blvd. Going east on McNeil the shop is on the left side of the road about 1/4 to 1/2 mile from research.

Sounds more like a project. Be careful w/ a 68 to get all the special 1-year-only parts or you will be chasing your tail for a long time.
:yesnod:
Be sure it's all there! When I bought my '68 project I knew there would be a lot of unique-to-68 parts involved. I just didn't realize how many!! Fortunately for me the car was unmolested and still had most all of the hard to find original stuff. If you're not concerned with originality, a lot of the stuff from later years can be made to work.
If it's a base engine AT or M20 car with few options, that's not really a low ask if the place wants to move the car in a reasonable amount of time.
A few months ago, a broker wanted to sell a '68 2 top vert 427/390hp M21. Rebuilt engine/trans. Needed new paint, that's about it. Asking was $13,500...but it went down to $12,500. I think he finally let it go at $11,750 or something.
