Kiesler Tremic tko 5 speed

Jeesh- I paid $2800 for my Richmond 6 speed close-ratio, with a choice of 3 overdrive ratios! And it's a bolt-in.

Yep, the price seems pretty outrageous even if they do provide a drive shaft and an offset shifter.
Look for past topics by "Norval" concerning the 5speed conversion. He has done many mods to his car and switched from 4:11 gears to 3:08 after the Tremek conversion. Don't give up on the TKO, you should be fine with 3:36 gears.

Please enlighten me. I'm also thinking of the TKO 5spd. and if I can have a 6spd with overdrive and NOT have to cut the crossmember I'm all ears. Please reply.

I went with the regular GM TKO, not Keisler. My total cost including shortened driveshaft, conversion U-joint etc was right at $2k.
GO ON SPEAK UP!!

And when I drive it, I'm not out getting groceries!

I liked the setup SO much that I installed it in the '67 roadster project- along with an HO 454 and the stock 3:70 posi BB rear end. I did not cut the crossmember, or the floor in the install. It's a tight fit in the C-2, but it works.
I've got nothing but positive things to say about both installs, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Oh, yeah- I installed the ROD in the '67 along with the motor.............
The '79 has a removeable crossmember -(it was an A/T car). The trans is the same l/o/a as the Muncie or T-10, but the belly is longer to accomodate the extra gearsets. I moved the mount pad to the front of the c-member. The shifter is in the stock location.
Here's a pic of the '67 install..........

- No cutting of the frame (and driveshaft)
- No external linkage
- Higher torque rating
:D
Here's one for ya. If one wants to keep the Vette close to matching #'s can you remove the Muncie and replace the 4th 1/1 gear with a 0.68??? Are the gears keyed onto the shaft or forged??? That way you have a stock lokking 4spd. and for you 3.70 rear gear guys like myself just a bit of a gap between 3rd at over 35mph to 45 into 4th (.068).
Anyone tried that, stupid idea. Please comment.
