Looks like you have a bit of customization there.
Do you have a tilt-nose ?
I can't help with the wiring from what I see .... Does/did it work before 'untaping' it ?

I think you are looking at your horn relay ... relocated from the front of
the drivers side of the engine. I thi8nk the early models used this as a power
distribution point.

There should be a Junction block on the firewall. It has a 7/16 or 3/8 bold head in the middle, it splits in half. You can get a front section from 'Lectric limited' and go from there if it's (the damage ) is only in the engine bay.

I believe that is called a Kerney(Spelling???). Usually they are used to group grounds together. Shouldn't really be used there. I think it would eventually give you problems.

My opinion is no. Avoid future problems by buying a new engine harness.

:iagree: if you don't do it now you'll have to down the road anyway (no pun intended)
Eddie70 close it's called a Burndy for splicing cables and your right it shouldn't be used there.

Give these people a call. The price for just the engine harness may be within your budget.

Be careful reusing wiring in poor condition, thats how fires start.Like you I could not afford new harnesses,I removed the harness completely, layed it out on my work bench,& replaced all the wires with new using the old harness as a template, including new connectors. Not a hard job,but you will definately need a good wiring diagram.Use none adhesive tape to tape each loom up this avoids a sticky mess if you need to replace wire in the future.
Most Auto stores sell the correct gauge wire as well as the correct connectors.Just my opinion of what I did.

Neil.

Looks dangerous to me, as already stated, bad wiring can cause serious problems and fires. If you can, just bite the bullett and get a new loom, safer and you won't have to worry.
