Man, I am dissappointed!! I brought my `74 in for paint on October 24th...
Finally got it painted 3 weeks ago and the paint guy sez it needs to sit before he wet sands and buffs it out...he just started buffing it on monday, Scheduled for pick up today and yesturday he tells me it needs to be completely repainted AGAIN!!!
The base coat blushed and no amount of buffing the clearcoat will bring it back!!
Also in the meantime the gas tank sprung a leak and the battery drains in about 2 hours!!!
I am aggravated to the point of drinking heavily!!
The guy said he will make it right and hopefully get it re-repainted by next week....I figure another month and a half before it sees the inside of my garage again.....
Damn!!!! :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad
That sucks. Did he bake it? When I got mine painted we baked at a low temp for a half hour then let it sit over the weekend. Sometimes baking a Vette causes problems. Anyway good luck and sit back and have a beer.
No he didnt bake it...it`s a climate controlled paint booth at 75 degrees...now...I was told he ran out of propane that evening and it was a cold nite....so it wasnt 75 in there for the required 24 hours to let the paint set!!
The high humidity is probably what made the paint blush. But why did he clear over the blushed paint. it wouldn't blush under the clear coat.
Wait until he makes it right, then start crying about how long he took to do it, you might be able to get a little refund on his lazyness...

thats the thing dawg, even myself as a professional painter cant tell if paint is 'bad' or blushed when working with flourescent lights. My car came out flawless under flourescent light. I pulled it out into natural light and wanted to hang myself. I saw a TON of errors in the basecoat that I swear wasnt there that night..
and waiting 3 weeks is about right for a PROFESSIONAL upscale paint job. I waited about a month before I touched mine with a buffer
