ok....after you guys answering my questions about the merlin 509 motoer, ive decided on the 200r4 trans.........ive gone to bowtie website, but what is all involved?......driveshaft?......ive got a 1977.....thanks for your support and help, seeing that this is all new to me and mid-life crises is MAKING me do this.....(along with my wife saying i can spend $25,000, but it better be nicer and faster than the new mustang GT she wants)!!!!!!!!!
ok...
I'd go with the bowtie level two...unless you're running ungodly hp, it should be fine
call bowtie...they're very nice. even though the level two supposedly costs what, $1100? They'll tell you what all accessories you'll need to make it work well...bringing the total to about $1400.
i wouldn't worry about the driveshaft right now (but then again, I'm not sure what motor you're gonna be runnin), but depending on age...you may have to replace the U joint in the not so distant future...
The drive shaft will not have to be changed for the 200R4. If you have the TH350 you might need to modify the trans support by opening up the slots where the trans mount bolts to it. You will need to attach the TV cable to the carb. Bowtie has the setup for that. The rest is pretty straight forward. It is not that hard. You will want to change the detent plate on the shifter to match the trans pattern.
