I knew I had some floorpan work to do, but i was not sure how much... This pretty much says it.
This is the driveway after i moved the car out of the way. Pretty good sized rust pile. Do you see the spots the exhaust left? Running kinda rich!!
I knew that the '63 was good for something.. good parts holder!! Just kidding.. My dad keeps it at my place. I figure that as long as it is in my garage, I can use it for a friggin' ladder if I have to!
Anyway.. i have some sheet aluminum to make a floorpan, a new carpet set, some new interior pieces to complete what needs to be done, a few days off work, and a fridge full of beer. I will show you completed pics when I am finished.
I really do not think I have the skills to replace the floorpan, but it may be worth considering.... As for Dad's '63... I take better care of it than he does! I just need a place to put interior pieces while the '77 is getting worked on.
Just my opinion, but in the long run it will be easier to fix it the correct way, instead of shi -rigging it now, and then having to tear all that out to do it right.
It's your car, do you want to have to own up to letting people know your middle name is Bubba???? :D :D :D
The alluminum will be fine but the last time i had to do this with my grampa was 7 years ago on his '71 mercury montego, we used a sheet of steel and drilled some hole and bolted it together, still as good as new(mind you the rust hole wasnt as big, ours was only 5 inches in diameter).
