From my understanding 10" is possible with offset trailing arms. This is something I am looking into myself.

I don't see why not, I am running 18x9.5 on the rear with 4 7/8" backspacing with stock trailing arms. No problems.

Here are some pics for you. First one is looking back from the front, second is looking forward from the back. These are 18x9.5 with 4.75" backspacing, however, my rotors are 1/8" thinner than stock so that makes them the same as 4 7/8" backspacing. Tire is Kumho Ecsta MX 275/40/18. There is over 1/2" between the tire and the trailing arm and the spring bolt will fit inside the wheel. The parking brake cable has been removed also, but could easily have been relocated to the top of the trailing arm.

I'm using 20x10 AR TT IIs on my 79. You can see they are tucked well into the wheel wells. I'm using 5.5" backspacing and offset trailing arms. Use 5.25" backspacing with the offset trailing arms and you'll be a happy camper :yesnod:
