On my 75 distrib there is a brown wire (tach) going down to a condenser? bolted to the intake. the wire leaves the condenser and then must go to the tach. I have seen no parts listing for this condenser. What does it do. I removed it and spliced the wires togather.
My tach has not moved from 1800 since I got the car. After splicing the wiers togather it driffs down to 1200 and when I start the car it goes up to 1800. If this was a filter would you think the unit would have continuity from one lead to the other?
I'm of the opinion that your circuit board is fried. When you turn your key in the ignition, the needle should peg out to zero and then once the motor is running it should then display the appropriate reading. I'm having troubles with mine aswell, but different to your problems.
