I mount the differentials on an engine stand so they're easier to work on. With the yoke off,either have someone hold a wood block under the pinion gear or make up a strap to go across the bearing cap holes to catch the pinion. I use a 7/8"diameter brass rod to hammer the pinion out,it won't take much so be sure to protect it from dropping to the floor.
