Need help with hurst install on a muncie!! HELP :-)
OK, this is most likley a stupid question, but here goes:
I have installed the new (used) hurst shifter on the tranny tail shaft and have the linkage connected. I need to find out if I have it right, or if I have 1&2/3&4 linkage reversed!!
Ok this is what I have, picture it looking toward the tranny. The closed finger to the tranny is the reverse, the middle finger is hooked to the short rod and connected to the middle gear connection on the tranny, and the furthest out is connected to the long rod to the connection closest to the bell housing. Is this right?
Also I got the instructions from the hurst web site, it said to set the reverse gear finger all the way forward, to set the length to the connection point on the tranny, when I do this, with rev. in neutral, and then tryt to engage the long fork (3&4?) it drags reverse into gear when it also goes into 4th. The only way I could get them all to work was to put the neutral allignment gauge through all three fingers and adjust this way.
Do I have something hooked up wrong, or are their directions all F.U.!!

Just rebuilt my Hurst shifter. You are correct in the hook ups and the best way to set it up is to use the neutral alignment tool. I also have a question for you, would you be interested in selling your one console vent ****? I would be willing to trade two of the newer style for your one of the older style.

I always put the trans in neutral, shifter in neutral install the alignment pin & then adjust the rods. Never had any problems that way. Not sure about which rod goes where, I'd have to be looking at the trans :)

I thank you kind sir!! I have both *****, but I am missing the allen screw for one if them, didn't know if I could find a screw. If you want to trade, just keep this in mind.

Do you have the vent ***** with the textured surface, newer ones, or the ones with the smooth surface, older ones? With or with out the screw I would be interested in tradeing a set of the textured surface ones for a set of the smooth surface ones, let me know.
