I've had to replace my headlight switch twice in the last 8 years for a similar problem. The switch gets just a little loose at the contacts, I guess. After replacing the switch, the dash lights worked perfectly--for about 8 years.... :smash:

is there any way to repair the switch or clean the contacts without having to replace it?

This is the release, pull the switch all the way out first. If you dont you'll haft to take it apart and fix it.
The second pick is the threaded screw type, it hold's the switch in place. I hope this helps you out:)

you might want to lower your steering colum to remove the dash.... there are a few bolts holding the bracket under the dash... this will give you more room to play with...you will also need to disconnect all wiring to pull it... the switch is easy... just pull the **** rod out... be very carefull when installing the new one... dont push the rod in too hard or you can break the switch.... i've done this.....

I repaired my switch.Just bend out the tangs on the side of the switch,& the black part that houses the contacts comes off.Just take note of the order in which the parts come off, there is a cam arrangement at the front which locks the interior lights on.The small spring that maintains contact pressure was broken on mine.I found a replacement spring, put it all back together after cleaning the contacts & it works fine.If your spring is alright you can increase the contact pressure by fitting a small washer under the spring in the recess that houses the spring.
