Default Recomendations for a newbie

Hey guys I am new to the whole restoration thing and was wondering what books if any would be a good place to start learning. I am a decent mechanic but have never tackled a job this big before. THanks in advance

Best book you can buy is the AIM (assembly instruction manual)--its the manual that GM gave to the guys on the line putting the car together and has lots & lots of very detailed diagrams. Also the GM service manual for your year. Then any old Chilton's type repair manual.

Welcome to the forum vette78, hang around and ask a lot of questions, chance are someone else has done it before and can help. If not we always love a chalange and will put our heads together and give you plenty of opinions on how to do it  This forum is better than any book you could read, except maybe a good wiring diagram

Welcome to the insanity! :yesnod:

I found that a book called "How to restore and modify your Corvette 1968-82" by Richard Newton was useful for a lite overview to all aspects of restoration. Not real detailed in any one area, but a nice review to the entire process.

In addition, I agree that a Assembly Manual for your particular year is invaluable.

Good Luck!

I would also recommend a plastic coated wiring diagram such as sold by Corvette Central, in addition to the AIM.
