Default PO2 question

Check out this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2459711320

Read the description. What were these mid-rise crowned wheel covers used on?

I think I remember reading that a cover similar to the PO2 was used on
Impala. I'm not sure which of the 'other 2' it was - but definitely not the 'vette PO2.

PO1 was a '68 option because they ran 7" rims in '68 only. PO2 fits the 8" rim on '69-'72 cars.

They were offered on other cars in the same era, and are indeed the same cover, with the exception of the center cap.

I've always thought those were the "PO1" full wheel covers.....

Never knew there were different PO2 covers. I have my orginal scratched and banged to hell original ones. They weigh like 15lbs each. :)

In the pic below you can see the PO2s, I wonder if thats what he means by the 1 inch crown?

P01 & P02 are the same hubcap. The same cap fits '68-'82 wheels regardless if they were the 7" AG wheels OR 8" AZ wheels. Same goes for the original GM trim ring. :yesnod:

Paul,
Check that they were the same. My info lists the PO1 without the the lip the P02 has.

Which "lip" are you referring too??? I've seen super original super low mile '68s and have not noticed anything different. I do know GM made those "flat cap" style ones that were on the Monte Carlos, but I don't believe they ever came on a '68 Corvette. Also, my GM parts book shows '68-'73 15" Wheel "cover" the same part #3923630. :yesnod:

No kidding! I dropped one on my foot when I was removing them from my car. I went back to the rally caps and rings (the PO2s weren't original to my car).

Paul,
I have checked further and it appears I was wrong.
A friend's parts book list the same part number back from 1970.
The difference between P01 and P02 appears to be related to the available sizes for the wheel cover in each year.
The P01 option code referes to 13, 14 and 15 inch covers and the P02 refers to 13 and 15 inch only.

It's really hard to tell if these are even Chevrolet wheel covers, the picture doesn't enlarge enough. A few weeks back someone was selling some covers on EBay and claimed they were Chevy but the center cap had two crossed checkered flags (I think black & white).
