Default New radio?

I am looking to buy a new radio for my '80. Do the ones that you get out of Ecklers, Corvette Central, etc. need adapters or anything, or do you just plug them and listen?

Don't bother with those. Ain't worth the money. Just get a modern in-dash CD unit, cut the plastic dash bezel, and stick it in there. Many of us have gone that route and are very satisfied :yesnod:

Well if you want it original as possible, that including crappy "original" sound, then go the route you mentioned. The Custom Auto Sound systems sound like they should be used in a 60's - 70's vehicle, in the 60's or 70's!!! If you want something that sounds good/modern, then I'd advise you to please find another option.

You can always buy a repro bezel and cut that for a modern head unit and keep the current parts for originality. Or you can checkout

http://www.vettespecialties.com/

who sell custom bezels all ready to mount a modern unit into. Their bezels look nice and will make your installation appear factory, but they are pricy at approx $200. FWIW.

BTW, if you want still want a CAS cassette player for your car, I'll sell you the USA-01 unit in mine that cost $200 less than 2 years ago. I'll give you a real good deal on it as anything I get will be better than when I throw it in the trash this spring. :yesnod:

Or perhaps I'll do an "Office Space" on it and take it out into a field and beat the crap out of it with a BB bat. :lolg: :lolg: That would feel nice after all the grief it has given me!

Good luck with your quest!

:seeya

Thanks. I am going to go the route of cutting the bezel, as I just love good sound and music, oh well, originality is all over the car, but some things needed to be upgraded. Thanks
