Default 81 Seat problem

My passernger side seat won't fold forward. These have a locking system to keep from from flopping forward, but it is "stuck" somehow and I can't fold it down at all. How do I get this thing to "un-latch"?

Thanks

There was a great post on it a few weeks ago with pictures and all. Basically, it just involves using a paperclip to release the latch inside the hinge. Then oiling the sucker so it doesn't hang up anymore.

Anyone have a clue where that message is? I did a search for a few key words but didn't find it.

If you try folding the seat down you should be able to tell which hinge is the one locking (or it could be both). Take off the plastic cover for it and if you look between the 2 plates that make up the sides of the hinge you'll see a white latch thing. It's just a small piece of metal cased in a white plastic sheath(!). Just push it back & it'll unlock the seat.
When I had my hinges powdercoated I left those latch things out when I put them together again. As I was fitting the seats together they kept locking which was a PITA. I found that slapping the rear of the seat back behind the hinge would jolt them out of the locked position. This worked with the seats out of the car & tilted backwards so may not work when fitted in the car. I got bored of that after a while so took the stupid things out & have never had a problem since :)

Great! Thanks for the help. I'll be taking them apart this afternoon. I'll try lubing them up a little and see if that helps. But they only get ONE chance :)

If they stick after that, they'll get the old heave-ho

'ppreciate it....

Don't feel alone on this one. Getting my passenger seat unstuck is on my to do list as well, hopefully sometime this weekend.
