Does anyone have a picture of a build sheet that they have found? I have a 78 Silver Anniversary and would like to drop the tank to look for the build sheet. Has anyone found one on a 78? Thanks for the help!!
Also if you ever remove the muffler on the drivers side you may be able to reach up on top of the tank and remove it, but be careful cause its on there with glue. I got mine like that last summer....LT
I have a couple scanned copies from my '74 and a '75, but not sure where they are right now.
I can say this, if there is a piece of paper of any kind on the top of your tank that is your tank sticker. It may not be very readable anymore, but that's what it will be.
Best of luck,
Jeff
On my '78 Pace I was able to get it by removing the gas filler rubber, and from the top and underneath use a thin metal ruler and parts grabber to slower remove it, piece by piece. I got all but about %10 in the dead center due to glue, I assume. Once the rubber is out, you will be able to see it with a flashlight from the top and bottom. Mine was very weathered. The first thing I did was put it ona copier and enalrge and enhance the copy as much as I could. From that I was able to read and figure out almost all build codes, plus determine the delivery dealer. It appears it has faded even more since removal and due not try to clean it as the lettering will fade even more. I have read to handle gently and get copies immediately. The big upside on mine was that only (1) Pace was sold to each delaer, and I found that mine was delivered to Gourley Chevy in Sewickley, PA, so now I have sent a request to the DMV for further info if available. Being I bought it in AZ, and I knew it came from UT, I was surprised it was originally from PA.
I found the build sheet on my 78. I removed the heat shield on the bottom of the leaf spring, it was wedged in between the shield and the spring. It is about 3/4 readable. Good luck.
