Fellas with C3 NITROUS (please step inside >>>)
Also :
1. Do u have your nitrous to inject at WOT ?
2. What timing are you running ?
3. When it kicks in, do u hear pinging or any other strange noises ?
4 . Does anyone have their bottle supported in the rear tire carrier housing instead of inside the car ?
5. Whats it like hitting the button at 40 mph WOT with nitrous ??
6. How long would a 10lb bottle last using it say 3 times per week on the street, at WOT ?
7 . HOw is you stock trans. handling it ?
Thanks, Dave

1) Yes, you ONLY want to spray at WOT, and ONLY above 2,500rpms
2) A general rule is for every 50hp shot, you need to retard the timing 1 degree
3) You should NOT hear any ping, if you do you are lean and should shut it down FAST!!
5) Traction will be an issue
6) Depends on what hp shot you are spraying.
7) Tranny do ok provided you don't launch on nitrous.
For 150hp+ shot I HIGHLY advise the use of fully forged internals and an upgraded fuel system.

Which system are you going with, and at what h.p shot ? What is your motor setup like ?
I do have all forged internals and i converted from the stock fuel pump to a Mallory 140 gph / 14 psi electric pump with bypass regulator (set at 7.5 psi currently) .
Whats your take on locating the bottle in the spare tire carrier ???
Dave
I looking to go with either the N.O.S. "Big Shot" that's adjustable from 200hp-400hp or the "Cheater" (150-300hp). I am also going to go with all the safty pieces such as the RPM switch, Fuel Pressure saty switch, and bottle heater.
I havn't seen any C3's bottles mounted in the tire carrier, but I have in other car. I plan to mount mine in the car so I don't have to buy the $200 remote bottle valve to turn it on. I'm not sure (don't quote me on this) but I think some racing sanctions force you to mount the bottle in the car for saftey reasons, this only matters if you take it to the track.
I'm only about 1/4 through the Nitrous book I purchased recently, I'll keep you updated on what I learn. :D

I mounted the my bottle in the cargo area. Looks cool with the curtain back and easy to reach.
The other thing is, it is addicting.....
Yes Corey...id appreciate it if you would let me know how yours runs . Keep me informed : fast1970vette@webtv.net
My entire motor is new , less than 5000 miles ; im glad i popped for the Manley 800 h.p. H rods and forged SpeedPro pistons with floating pins. I dont have a 4 bolt though, but i do have all ARP fasteners with new Clevite bearings and Total Seal Gapless 2nd Ring Set. I have a long duration exhaust roller cam too which i read is ideal for nitrous on Holleys website.
I agree that 150 h.p. shot will be plenty for the street and i think ill start out with 100 until i get used to it.
Im going to go with the microswitch on the carb linkage for WOT , with toggle switch enabler.
My concern about the bottle in the tire carrier is not the heat issue since its in between the exhaust on mine , plus, i can wrap it with blanket and insulation ; what concerns me is having a hard rear end collision and the bottle rupturing/blowing up. Perhaps ill consider welding a thick steel plate back there for added safety.
Dave
Start with 100 horse and you do not need any timing change, spark plug change or dedicated fuel system. At 175 horse you need all these things,
I had my tank in the car behind the passengers seat where I could easily reach the valve. Vent the tank to the outside.
Start with jets in the .055 range and jet close to square.

Ill control like you mentioned.
Id like to keep the bottle behind the passenger seat also, but, i go on a few out of town trips with the vette and need the space back there for t tops , luggage, etc. Do u know what the dimensions are on a 10 lb bottle ??? I wonder if i could fix behind the wheel well off in the corner, inside ? The most convenient place is in the tire carrier wrapped up in insulation and blanket ; but, its not the safest place in case of hard rear end crash.
Dave
no I'm not planning to do it but just curious, id like to juice mine someday, but not until a forged bottom and heads/cam/intake.
i wouldn't think id want to run more than a 50 shot, but i know alot of cars with that bottom end holding 400 horsepower, so couldn't you then make it to 400 hp w/ the nitrous, as in on a 180 hp L48 run about a 200 shot. I'm sure hat would break it, but now I'm curious why 400 hp on nitrous would break it but a regular 400 wont.
