Has anybody made one? Is one available from aftermarket?
I'm putting in the Nordskog direct fit gauge panel. This is a before shot: http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/bc/7f4e9456...H27OABrKK150IS
See that nasty radio hole? While I have the lower dash out, I'd like to make a block off plate out of some sheet aluminum I have laying around. Or, I'll take a look at some aftermarket stuff, if it's available.
Your pics do not come through but I have a radio delete plate from Corvette Central. I think you can also get them from Mid America or one of the other Corvette specialty retailers. I don't think it would be too hard to make one.
:smash:
I just cut an aluminum plate to fit, sprayed it semigloss black and fixed it into the hole with two little dabs of 5 min epoxy from the back side. (Just call me 'Bubba' ) It's not fancy but there's no hole there now and all you have to do to remove it is punch it out of the way. As for the holes for the on/off and tuning *****? well one of them has the indicator light for my line lock and the other has the switch for my electric fan. It's kinda slick, actually.
Paragon Reproductions actually makes the reproduction that is on the market right now. I have an NOS one and a repro and they are identical from the front, and nobody sees the back anyway.
I like the idea of building a gauge panel, especially if you have trick gauges up above already. You can add all the other little gauges, like oil temp or trans fluid temp or whatever you want. Just haven't done it myself, I'm currently running the repro plate and have the NOS one in my "Special Parts" stash.

Dayum! Paragon wants 150 skins for that radio delete plate.
Does anyone have a picture of one? Paragon doesn't hava pic on their site.
I have an original one. My car was radio delete option (I have the window sticker). I am not using it, but not in a rush to get rid of it either. But for the right price :smash:
I made one out of sheet metal. Just made a template from carboard and then traced that over to the sheet metal. It is a single piece that has rounded ends that fit into the contour of the console. Then about 1 1/2" from each end is bent towards the console. To attach it, I bent up some tabs from sheet metal that hold it in place but can be pulled out easily. I rivited the tabs to the back of the plate and then sprayed it all with black crinkle paint and it matches the '69 console. I know that some of the other years have a flat black texture to the console so using a flat black paint would look better on them. I don't have any pictures of it but I can take some and post if you like. I also ended up putting in another temp guage into the plate. I think it has a very 'finished' look to it. Of course, it's pretty easy to make it look finished after staring at a big hole for months!

A pic would be very much appreciated. I was thinking of designing mine like you describe or curving the entire piece to fit, not just the ends. I like the idea of putting gauges in them. It would also be a good place to put rocker switches for electric fuel pump, ignition, passenger-side ejector seat...
I made one this weekend, except I used the radio **** holes to house 2 toggle switches and made a plate to fit over the radio face hole. Pics will be posted tonite or tomorrow.
