I finished my installation last night. It really isn't a bad job. It took me probably a total of 10-12 hours and cost me ~$375. Now they come up and down perfectly and reliably.
Can you post a pic of your elec. light set up? Where did you buy them? How hard were they to install ect.? I am interested in this. Any information is most welcome. Thanks Al :conehead
I used Chris McDonald's (McSpeed, 69MyWay) "kit" and instructions to do the whole thing. I was terribly intimidated at first but he assured me it really wasn't too bad. I am a total novice when it comes to mechanics. I am probably a 3 on a scale of one to ten (10 being expert) but I was able to do it.
Chris's kit gives you the brackets you need and provides you with step by step instructions for the whole job. He does not provide the motors or control module but I was able to pick mine up from a salvage yard for a very reasonable cost. I don't think I am allowed to post Chris's web site or the site where I bought my motors here but if you email me or IM me I'll be glad to share all that info.
I am planning on taking a video of the light opening and closing this weekend and I'll post that as well as a couple pics of the after installation. Stay tuned...
