Twin_Turbo, I hear you, and agree, but I just want a better handling combo. I think we are going to use the Famosa Dished. (see pic) I think they still have a nostalgic/vintage look. I guess the ones coming off are for sale. I havn't really thought about it.

I've seen better looking wheels that those to be honest. Why not stick with the design that's on it now, just get some larger ones? There's a thread about custom wheels like that in this c3 section. I tihnk the guy uses image wheels (if not, it still is a nice place to check out)
Although the wheels in the pic looks nice they are more for a truck IMO.
Kind of a shame I already have a set of 3pc mag. 16" wheels.....maybe 2 sets would be handy ;) :D

Interesting project, I have your home page bookmarked!
Regarding different wheel types, there is one big down side to the "mesh" type wheels ,keeping them clean. Not a big deal on a race car but I would hate cleaning them all the time on a street car. I think going to a simpler design is a good move :)
That's the way most of the restoration shops I've been to remove & install the body. By the way Rick - you might want to consider adding a support to pick up the # 3 body mounts, in front of the rear wheels. I'll bet that the body has flexed & pinched the gap at the top edge of the doors. If you support the body at that point also you'll be able to open the doors and/or remove them without damage.
If not the body will fold fairly easily if you open the doors.
74 vert, Budnik does not have pricing on their site. I am not sure of the price range.
70BBvert, we did ad the support under that mount. You can see Paul welding it in after the body was on the dolly. (third pic down at the top) Since that mount goes to the top side of the frame, we put the body down first, then jacked it up to the right height, then welded it. Thanks for the concern though!
Your project is really interesting! Keep us updated!
Somehow I like also the look of those "vintage" wheels... The new ones are not that bad either, but those black centered mesh wheels have some real race look in them... :smash:
