Default auto-4/ speed changeover

Has anyone ever changed over an automatic transmisson to a 4or5/ speed manual transmisson? How difficult and costly is this effort? Any input would be appreciated.

Check the archives and you will see a ton of info regarding this changeover. It is not that hard for the most part. The biggest pain is hanging the pedals. Lukily I had my dash completely apart so that made it easier. But if you do it with the dash in place make sure no kids are around because they will learn a lot of colorful new words. :smash: :yesnod: Since you already have an automatic you have an Xmember that bolts in so it is easy to remove. You will need to weld 2 "L" shaped brackets on the member to help support the tranie. You will also need to weld the tab on the frame just under the master cylinder for the pivot arm. Or you can go with what Norval (Another member here) did and go with a hydraulic clutch set up that is pretty slick. Other than these mods you just need the trannie, flyweel, belhousing, etc. I am going with a Richmond Super T-10 in mine. It is around $1300 which in the long run is cheaper than finding a Muncie and everything is new. Richmond also has a bolt in non Overdrive 5spd but it is around $1900 which is a little out of my budget. And the 6spd OD is about $3000  This is the basics. Plenty of us have done this or are doing this so you should be able to get all the help you need. Good Luck
