The reverse socket is single filament so you need a double filament socket. Do not remove the old, you may wish to revert back to it for inspection/safety check purposes. Simply scotch-lock the new socket wiring into the existing tail/brake wiring.
Example. The black wire is the old that you do not wish to cut. It is linked to one wire (red) of the new socket by the lock. That lock is easily removed.
The end result is four tail and four brake lights. The uncut reverse sockets and wiring can be neatly tucked away with a nylon tie. Some regions require back-up lights for a safety inspection and the intact wiring will be ready and waiting if that need arises.
