Need help with initial start up
Help guys,
I am starting the motor for the first time since the restoration. It keeps back firing through the carb and starting a fire!!! :eek:
It turned on once with alot of pumping on the throttle. Am I running too rich or too much timing. :confused:

I had the distributor too retarded, I just had to give it alittle more initial advance and it fired right up. :hurray:

Glad to hear you got it going. I just started mine up today too and had the timming out 180 degres, a quick fix and up she came. Have to say that it is a bit hard on the nerves when she don't fire right away. I then did the 20min cam break-in and all went well. The 383 shure sounds nice, now to get to work on painting it.
