Default flat milling heads

I am thinking about buying the L98 shortblock and using my current heads.

But the L98 shortblock has lower compression pistons.

So I was thinking about flat milling my heads on my dads bridgeport back home. and maybe use my grandpas surface grinder.

think I could mill some 76cc heads to be 64cc heads?

Damn the info that was on their website was wrong.

I would lean more towards changing pistons than milling your heads, what comp are your shooting for and what kinda heads to you have? You really don't gain much from a slight bump in comp but it is worth while if setting up a combo you know you will be running for a long time.

BTW a thinner head gasket might be a better alternative.

Well the heads I have are 76cc heads and I am shooting for 64-58cc. to match the L98 shortblock. the shortblock gives a compression ration of 9.1:1 with 64cc heads.

Pistons cost money. Using my dads milling machine is free.

I emailed the manufacturer, they list the safe amount heads can be milled for all the other heads just not the ones I have. So I should be hearing back from them soon.

you can probably get away with milling 20 or 30 thousands. Too much will make it very difficult to mate up the intake manifold.

There is a trick to angle mill the heads to cut the combustion chamber more to get the compression without totally screwing up the geometry with the intake bolts.

I have a set of AFR210 RR flat milled heads. From 76 cc to 64 cc. They are made so that you can put standard intakes on them without modifications.

I am running some protopline torkers.
El cheapos but they get the job done. Hopefully the manufacturer will get back to me soon.

I may have to mill a bit of intake manifold but thats OK.
