Default Quad rods for a 80?

I'm need to increase my primary jet and rod size from 71 jets/41 rods to 74 jets/43 rods which was recommened by Lars. I understand that from 1976 up rods are not interchangable with the older units. Having trouble finding primary rods for the newer quads. Anyone have any suggestions or info. where I might purchase these?

You're right, the primaries rods don't interchange with the Q-jet that start with 70xxxxxx, newer starts with 170xxxxx. I think you can buy them from http://www.GMpartsdirect.com on the internet or you could do like me and find a scrapyard with 80's two barrel or 4 barrels Q-jet. All those fits great. To be sure, the differance bethween the old style and newer style rod, compare the lenght. The newer are approx. 1/16 of an inch shorter.

P.S. The jets are all the same.

Thanks guys for the info. The parts gal at the local GM dealer told me as of May 92 GM has discontinued rods 17051344 and 45. With a little searching they found some 44's at a warehouse across town so I snagged them up.
GMParts Direct had the same story--Discontinued or no part #. So if you run across any hang on to them.
Now I need to get in touch with Lars and see what he recommends for jets.
Thanks again.
