Default Holley Systemax

All,
Anyone with experience with this kit?
The SystemaxI is without heads and the SystemaxII has aluminum heads.
Looks like a very reasonable price for them.

What would this kit do for an L-82 with headers?
Is it worth it?

Seems most people go with the edelbrock stuff.

I doubt you'll see much if any gain from the systemax 1. Maybe a little from the intake but the cam is relatively close to the stock L-82 cam.

I would go with the systemax2, predict 75-100 hp over what you have now.

I ran a SysteMax II for the past 5 years. Recorded a best of 12.88 ET with an average of 13.0's
It's a very complete kit for the money. Adding flat-top pistons and a 750 Holley will net you 420 HP (mine was a 1977 L-82).
Just traded my SysteMax parts to my machinist and am going to a 671 blown 383 with AFR heads...my DD2000 says I'll be making around 690 HP @ 14 lbs. boost.

You just bought your car, didn't you? My advice: Do NOTHING to it for the first six months (except maintenance, of course). After that time period, you'll have a better grasp of what you want to do first (like an overdrive transmission perhaps).

Of course, you're always welcome to plan and speculate...and :steering: of course!
