Re: Seats are back from the Upholsterer... (NHvette)
NHvette,
I did look at a Z06 last weekend. Not that I can afford one but what the heck. I was impressed but not impressed. Too many gadgets. I asked in the C2 Forum a silly question at one point: Why did GM put such a large clock in the car? And centre of the console? The answer always stuck with me: the GM designers were trying to emulate a WW2 fighter cockpit. And a clock was essential to missions. Thus it was big. The rest of the gauge cluster centered on engine performance. Right in front of you. Made sense to me!
Re: Seats are back from the Upholsterer... (ACECO)
Just about everything we buy in Canada is subject to a federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 7%. To that is added a Provincial Sales Tax (PST) that varies from province to province. In Ontario it is 8%. Just to put that in perspective, the taxes on the purchase of a $30,000 automobile would be 15% or $4,500! When I brought the 1967 into Canada from Pennsylvania last year I paid 7% on the notarized sale price at the border (federal tax) and 8% when I picked up the license plates (provincial tax). It was quite a hit in the wallet....
Re: Seats are back from the Upholsterer... (paul67)
Hi paul67
Did you buy the covers ready to be installed ?
I like to get my 68 seats done, bought some headrests as well. My seats are non headrest seats.
There is no kit available for C3 seats to accept the headrest.
They have a similar, if not the same center post only and I was wondering, if the C2 seat kit could be used ?
What is the size of the head rest posts ? Could you take a close up pic of them as well ?
Or do you know a source of a supplier for the 68/69 seat conversion kit ?
Re: Seats are back from the Upholsterer... (WESCH)
Gunther,
I've just come back from the storage depot where I reinstalled the seats to get them out of the living room. Thus I cannot take any more pics, or take any measurements, until late April when the car sees the light of spring. Sorry!
The covers are not provided with foams pre-installed as with my 1979 and ready to pop into the frame. Thus it is a multi-step process that I cannot describe in detail as I did not do the work.
I have poked about and found 1968-69 headrest covers and cushions but no hardware installation kits. I find that somewhat strange as C2 headrests were offered for only two years as well but conversion kits are available....You may have to go to a salvage yard unfortunately.
