On my 79, my driver door has started to refuse to open with the outside handle. Opens perfectly from the inside. I took the door panel off this past weekend and didn't see an obvious access panel to remove to get to anything to make an adjustment. What kind of access panel should I see? Anyone with pics or advice?
Remove the door panel and you should be able to see the outside door handle and lock linkage. It maybe be covered up be a platic shell that is suppose to protect you from someone unlocking the door through the window chennel.
What you will see connected to the outside door handle, is a rod that is threaded at the bottom. Threaded onto the rod is a "rod swivel pin". By removing the clip attached to the rod swivel pin, you can then move the swivel pin up or down by twisting it to get the desired outisde door handle operation. Once you have it adjusted correctly, reinstall the retaining clip.
