During this last election, they had two items on the ballot. One was to allow grocery stores to sell beer and wine only. The second was to allow restaurants to serve all types of alcohol. The first did not pass while the second did. So the bottom line is I can go to a restaurant and drink and drive home, but I can't go to the store, buy beer, take it home and drink.
Many of the people I talked to that were very much against the sale of alcohol in our city had no problem with people drinking at home. They just didn't want our city to sell it. So it was OK for me to go to another city and buy it and bring it home to drink (which is what they do). I guess it's another case of as long as it's not in my backyard, it's OK.
Oh well, I've had the chance to move again and decided not to because all in all this really is a great state with a lot of great people. And the weather isn't bad either :D . Kinda nice to be able to drive the vette all year long. (OK, that's a joke. If it were running I could drive it all year long! )

I moved away from Dallas 15 years ago and still miss it a bit. I go back to visit friends occasionally. I always try to visit in February or early March. That's when my cabin fever really starts to set in and spring is setting in there. I still look at the Dallas weather forecast....especially during the WINTER months just to torture myself. Sometimes in the SUMMER I look at the temps just to console myself. :jester
Good question. I've asked many people but get no real good answer. Religion, politics, fear, etc. This is when I miss living in Chicago.
BTW, I used to get to Wisconsin quite a bit too. What a great place. You can go to the food court in the mall and have a beer with your fast food!
I was out in CO for a summer and you could not by Beer/liquor on Sundays???? Liquor stores are closed, no sales on Sun. Had to go to a grocery store and look through their large selection  WI should have put a brat and beer on their quarter, instead it is corn, cow and cheese go figure!!!!!
