I've never heard that before...I'm using Hooker Super Comps...2.125" tubes, and no problems with the bolts and flanges....are u using header bolts or std head 3/8" bolts?

Same thing with my edelbrock aluminum heads. The deck is thicker on many aftermarket heads, especially aluminum and require clearencing on the header flange.

THe motor has been rebuilt, he must have used different head bolts.
Thes are stock heads and super comp sidepipe headers.
the bolt corners point toward the head and I was thinking "if I could just turn them so the flat side of the bolt was parallel to the head then the flange would slip in. But it doesn't seem like a good Idea to start turning head bolts.
So which would be better to clearence?
the header flange (very little material there), or the head bolt. even if it lost a corner, it would still turn.
I haven't touched this car in a year, so I've been off this board. Ive been building a C4 racecar but the car is all custom fab and the C4 boards haven't been that helpful.
