Default engine trouble

I just had the vette out and it started hesitating(if thats what you wnat to call it) really bad. When i first started it it didn't want to idle properly. I had to rev a little to keep it alive. I thought it was just cold then a couple miles down the road i pretty much lost all acceleration. I could push in the clutch and rev the engine but under load it didn't want to do anything. I limped home. I was going to take it to the shop in a couple days to have a ditributor rebuild kit installed and have a basic tune up. What do you think it is??

If you can get it to the shop the tune-up may find/solve the problem. A number of things could cause the symptoms you describe, but a fuel delivery problem seems to be my first thought.......fuel filter, fuel pump, carb. problem. Hopefully some of the good engine guys on this forum can add a little more.

This may sound off the wall but depending on how long it's been sitting there it might be gas gone old? :banghead:
