I called 2 different alignment shops for prices last friday.
One shop says 150 for all four wheels, they did a friend of mine's 81
vette. heard good things about this shop. A local hot rod shop say
80 for the 4 wheel alignment, another well know shop.
Why the huge price differance ?? :skep:
The one for 150 sounds more realistic to me. Often they have to wrench and beat on things pretty hard because of rust on all the adjustment points. For what it's worth, I paid about 100 at my local Car-X shop, they have the best equipment around and did a great job. My car had just gone through a complete frame off restoration and everything was new, I also furnished all the shims required. Some places might shoot a low price then add in a bunch of extra's as they go.
Can`t tell ya why the difference, we have a good guy at our local tire shop he charges $150 and thats his average price. I suppose it depends on how hard it is to get your old stuff apart and if you need new shims and how much shop time, myself go with the guy who`s only job is front end work, that`s what our guy does and I belive it makes a difference... :chevy
Good sounding theroies.....My "stuff" is all new, did the rebuild over winter.
The 150 shop is an alignment shop and the 80 shop is a do all hot rod shop.
Again good thery on the all we do is alignments......
Thanks for the input !
Say Motown, I assume you live in close proximity to Lake St. Clair? Some of the best walleye fishing I've ever had was there quite a few years ago. Went out one morning and caught a limit of 7 pounders, left them on a stringer while I paused for lunch and a turtle ate them all!
