Default Electric Window conversion.

I've never cared much about not having electric windows until the last year or so, I've developed rhuematoid arthritis. Rolling the window up and down has become very difficult and painful for me.
So, I started looking for electric window regulators to replace my manual windows. Man, I was shocked when I saw how much electric regulators and motors cost. It will cost me nearly $700.00 for the motors and regulators!
That's too damned high!
So I started looking around, found this place that sells conversion kits for cars and street-rods. They didn't have a kit for the Corvette, but the kit for the 67-69 Camaro looks like it might work.

Here's the Camaro kit

Here's the Corvette kit from Eckler's

They look pretty similar, the windows are about the same size, the travel should be about the same, I wonder if it could be adapted?

The important part is getting the assembly bolted to the inner door frame. You'd at the minimum would have to fab up a ay to mount the camaro units. I know a few local people who package conversion kits from working used parts. I'm sure someone in your area would do the same.

Here's the link to the Camaro kit, it is much cheaper than the conversion kit from Eckler's, the A1 electric kit is GM86-KC Price:$239.95

Check with Yogi Behr Corvettes.....he supplied my regulators for about 100 bux each, I think,...but that was 10 years ago.....I went the junkyard route for any 70's GM car for the motor and gearbox hardware...picked up a bunch while at it for 5 bux each.....with wiring connector.....

Hi

I saw some Motors that fir instead of the crank on the outside of the door panel. very cheap.
I also saw some motors that slip onto the crank shaft behind the door panel , so the crank shaft can stay installed and turns while operating the window electrically. Also cheap.
Just an option, hence not original appearing. :seeya

Good luck. Gunther

Why not try and get some used parts for the conversion?

I had contacted Carols about some other parts I needed and asked them if they had the parts for doing this conversion and was told that they had all of the parts including the harness. He told me he would give me a good deal if I got both regulators, both motors, harness and switches. The used parts that I got from him were in really good condition, they needed cleaning but were as good as new once cleaned.
