First.......Anyone presently running or had any experience with a Crane, grind number 274 HO6 in a small block? The engine will bolted to a built auto tranny with the correct stall (the person building the tranny for me is a drag racing & vette fanatic and builds darn good trannys), and a 3:70 rear end.
Secondly...........I'm getting ready to do the reinforcment welding (mig) on my frame (main rail seams, A-arm attachment points, factory installed gussets, possibly boxing the front crossmember, etc). I've seen several references to "factory recommended" additional gusseting/reinforcement. Where could one locate a source for these recommendations?
I can't answer your first question but the second one I can. The Chevy Power Manual has the information in it. You can download it from Corvettefaq here http://www.corvettefaq.com/redir.asp?site=189 it is about 8 megs and it has some very good information. I, however, feel that it doesn't address all of the issues that older Vettes are dealing with in regard to frame strength. Wrencher and I are working on a tech article that details this a little more. Hopefully it will be finished soon.
