Default ? about LS-5 motor

What is the sensor directly opposite (passenger side) of the temperature sending unit, it has two wires going to it?

It is a thermal switch, think is either spark control or emmissions related but am unsure.

Going from hazy memory, but that sounds like the TCS (transmission controlled spark) switch. It was a funky early emissions system. It prevented vacuum advance in the distributor in lower gears. Only 4th got vacuum advance. The system was only active when the engine was warm, thus the need for the temp switch.

I was thinking of using this spot for the thermostat switch for spal fans. What would be the effect of removing it? I currently have the vaccum advance plugged.

Why do you have it plugged? The engine runs better with vacuum advance. You can remove the TCS switch and use it for the spals. The TCS system was a pretty ineffective emissions device and you'll never miss it. Hook the distributor vacuum can directly to a ported vacuum source on your carb.

Correcto Mundo! I am also putting my temp switch in the pass. side cylinder head. The TCS system is worthless. Also, Get that vacuum advance working. BBC's love the extra advance for cruising.

I am not sure why its plugged, but it is. Since I have had this vette I have done very little under the hood. I have only spent time and money on the suspension. 2005 will be interior and engine performance upgrade year. When I get home I will pull the TCS sensor and install Spal thermostat switch and reconnect vaccum advance. I have been struggling with a good place to connect the thermo switch and this solution solves a couple of issues. Thanks GANG :hurray:
