Help if you can. I installed a new temp. gauge on my 73' BB . It worked the first time I ran it ( reached 200 )but now reads extremely low(110-120). I have tried 4 different sending units and they all just barely come off the bottom. Am I having a 12v. problem at the gauge ( I haven't taken the instrument cluster back apart to check) thanks for any input.
Are the the gauge and sending unit a matched set as in from the same manufacturer and same calibration? I ran into that situation last year and had to match the sending unit to the stock gauge.
Hope it helped a little. :chevy
I had the same problem. Bought a temp sender from http://www.lectriclimited.com/
and corrected the problem. Even the one I tried from GM was not right, read way low.

How does one go about matching the sending unit to the stock guage?
I had to remove the old mechanical sending unit that the previous owner installed and replace it with the correct elec. unit. It ran into the red. Then I remembered to add some coolant. Now the guage won't move.
I bet if I hadn't read this thread right before I started working on my car I wouldn't have had this problem.
