Re: 5-speed swap update (ddecart)
Once you have done one you know the problems and the second one goes smoothly. I promised I would install a Tremec for a guy I met at cruise night last year. I am just waiting for the call to get started
I would like to see more posts on your impression of the overdrive transmission.

Re: 5-speed swap update
Ok...NOW the swap is complete to the extent that it will be for the Cruise In. Put the console back together last night. Damn those screws holding the side-vent cables are a PITA! I decided to go with a nice oak console trim piece. Might throw a coat or 2 of satin polyurethane on it tonight for good measure. No shift boot, just a hole cut for the shifter to go through.
Oh, and I still need to find a shift ****!!!!

Any mustang shift **** will work. Surpising how often someone looks in my vet and comment that I have a mustang shift ****.

Hey Dave,
Here's a nice one, I used to have this in my T/A (with 5 spd), graphite leather, feels real good in the palm, and not too expensive either!

Have fun!

I don't want to spend much. I still need to re-loacte the shift lever and I might actually put the factory shift lever back on.

I went to Autozone tonight. I'd rather drive with no ball than put on the crap they have there!

Re: 5-speed swap update (ddecart)
This one looks cool and it's $24. Mine is a ball, but this may make the throw better for a short shifter.

I personally like the feel of the leather stock mustang shift handle

That's actually what I'd like to find. Something of that nature. Maybe I'll have to *gasp* call a dealer

Re: 5-speed swap update (ddecart)
Dave,
I had one of these on my 95 Z28 and really liked it.

Actually, it's still sitting in my toolbox. I may put it on my car if I get tired of the Hurst T-handle.
