Default Stahl Sidemount headers.

Big Block Check out the tubes on the big block :D

Small Block

The heads can be purchased in a high port configuration, guess that is for raised port heads?

Anyone running these?

I was going to buy a set but decided to make my own.
It ended up being more expensive to make them!

Probably better than mine too :banghead:

You will be very pleased with both the quality and performance of a stahl system . They really work and you get what you pay for in the end !

I wish they had the look of the Hooker side mounts where you can see the four primaries twist and blend into one at the front of the sidepipe.
I am looking for a set that will fit my AFR 220 heads.

You mean these :D

just a few tuning dents to get them to slide in around the Jeep Cherokee powersteering box and you have to trim up the header flange to get them over the ARP head bolts/studs and the #3 spark plug will need a little extra tuning clearance or you'll never get a socket in there.

They aren't? I bought the finish it youself kit to save a little money and used a 3.5" collector instead of the 4". I had them HPC Coated over the winter while I was swapping out to a thinner head gasket.

The coating is, but the tubes and the way they bend are not like mine.

Hi all!

I have Stahl's on my 420 SBC. Getting them to fit was a horror story. One side was was 2" too high in fact you could not open the door. Jer said that that my car must have been at fault because his headers were never off. He charged me to make an extension and the shipping both ways. I have never met a business that was less service oriented. I grew up watching him run race and always had the complete respect for the man but after my experience I would never recommend his products. I have heard that his BBC headers fit much better. I recall one other Forum member having similar problems.

Good Luck!

I can't help but think that just getting some shorty/block hugger/street rod headers would be the easiest, then just put an elbow on it angle it out. Would also allow for better clearance.

shorty/blockhuggers = power robbers, they are only marginally better than the 2,5" ram horns...if any better at all.

Stahls are the BEST! The primary pipe length is CORRECT where the Hookers are too long! The Stahls will make better power but do not have the 4 into 1 look of the Hookers. Stahl pricing is on his website, the headers are around $960 the last time I priced them and about $1300 with the side pipes. The side pipes are only 3 or 3.5" in diameter, so they look small compared to the Hooker 4" stuff but Stahl will not compromise his design for price or loss of performance. The quality is beyond comparison, I have never had a fit problem with Stahl headers on a car with a straight body/frame assemmbly. The customer service is not the best but the power potential is second to none! Hookers are too big and too long in the primary pipes for proper power, they make OK power but Stahls should make better bottom end and mid range power (in the order of 12-18 HP across the entire power range is what I would expect the Stahls to make over the Hooker side mounts.) The above being said, the Hookers at under $400 for the side mounts are a good bargin (make your own sidepipes from 4" pipe from a truck supply store.)

Does anyone know if Hooker makes a side exhaust header that will fit AFR220 heads?

The stahls are 2 1/8" x 29. Hookers are 2 1/8" x 45". Hookers are way to long for anything other than looks. And in my opinion the stahls are too short for a low rev street engine. But the better of the two evils. Somewhere in the 32" to 35" range is more to my liking.

The stahls can be ordered with 3 1/2" or 4" collectors. Since i am running a smaller engine I opted for the 3 1/2" collectors to help out the bottom end since the primaries are so short. Larger engines would tend to like the larger pipes.

Stahls products are excelent quality, and the parts looked really nice, but I can't say thier packaging techniques are very desireable.

Solid, Your comments are always informative, and I appreciate them. It doesn't look like you've got side-pipes on your car, so I assume you've had them on a different C-3?
